Rudraksha beads

It’s Wednesday aka hump day guys! The week seems to be dragging a bit for me but I think it’s all part of getting back to the grind of everyday life.

When we were in Lombok Indonesia, we came across this tiny little jewelry store. The sign that brought me in said something about Shiva tearsa and I had learnt a little bit about the god Shiva in my yoga teacher training, so right away I wanted to explore further.

Looking at the necklaces and bracelets I was so drawn to them even though they were not the best looking piece of jewelry I had seen, but I immediately started to choose one for myself!  Turns out, I was looking at jewelery that was made from rudraksha seeds.

If you don’t know ( which I didn’t) the rudraksha seed is off of the  Eliocarpus ganitrus tree and is known to play an important role in a spiritual seeker’s life!!!- Yes Please!

From what I was told by the jewler,  back in the day most of these trees were used to make railways, so there are very few remaining. However you can still find them in Thailand or Indonesia.

They were found by the people living in the forests. These people could not just drink water from any source because many times in nature, the water may be contaminated with certain gases. If they were to drink it, it might cripple or even kill them. So they used the beads to their advantage. When rudraksha is held above the water, if the water is good and drinkable, it will go clockwise. If it is poisoned, it will go counterclockwise. It is also a way of checking the quality of food.

The jewler who owned the store began showing Perry and I how this necklaces works. In very broken English, he said”  if you wear this, it will shield you from negative energie, as you continue to wear your necklace, it will act as a cocoon from your own energy”.

He proceeded to take his drinking water and hold his necklace over the cup. The necklace started to turn slowly gaining speed in a clockwise direction on its own.             ” That’s good” he said. At that point, he took out some windex under the sink and sprayed a few drops of windex in the cup. He again placed the necklace over the cup, but this time the necklace starts to go counterclockwise. “That’s not good” he says.

Perry and I were astonished.. how did these beads hold such intelligence and high vibration in them that they know what is good energy and bad!! It was insane!

After testing several different types of necklaces by holding them over our hand to find one that wokred with our energy, we decided to go back to the hotel and test it on other things.  We honestly tried it on everything, from Alcohol, to Cigarettes, food to just the non-drinking water. Every time the beads was right on the mark. Circling counter if it was bad for your body and clockwise if it was good.

Perry and I wear ours almost everyday ( Perry has been religious about wearing it). I just wear it under my shirt and I honestly do feel a vibration from it. This is defiantly something that is very sacred to me already.
